Looking for a great day with the family, and lots of activities to keep the young ones busy? The BC Highland Games has always been a family event, with lots to do for adults, and the kids.
We have a special children’s area set aside to keep the wee ones entertained and occupied during your visit. There’s a swing ride, a bouncy castle and this year, that great Scottish game of Kid’s Golf.
And there’s more. The BC Highland Games face painters will be back, along with Bill McCallion and his great border collies to round up those pesky sheep (and ducks) and new this year, a “Kidditch” game for all kids to learn the classic Harry Potter game of Quidditch (following the adult demonstration match at 1:30pm).
And if your kids would like to try the bagpipes, drumming or highland dancing, there will be opportunities to do that at the Highland Pavilion at the south end of the field. Or pick up a wooden sword and learn some basic sword-fighting moves from the experts.
And of course, the most popular kids event is the Haggis Hunt. Get your entry card from the souvenir program and travel around to the various vendors looking for the elusive Haggis which hides in all kinds of crafty places. There are prizes!
